Giridih Secondary Steel Cluster

Introduction

Giridih, located in the state of Jharkhand, has historically been associated with mining of mica. The steel industries started evolving in the district about in late 1990s and early 2000s. There are about 30 iron and steel industries in Giridih. Category of steel industries in the region includes pig iron, sponge iron/ direct reduced iron (DRI), ferro alloys, steel re-rolling mills, and wire industries.
